Data Security
Using your internet connection for backups is completely secure. In addition to your data being encrypted before it leaves your network, it is also sent over a secure "tunnel" to our backup servers. For restores, the same level of security is in place. You can also restore your data from our web portal which is protected by 128-bit SSL security.
The following process happens for all backups:
First - Files are gathered (according to the backup job that is set) and encrypted on the machine that runs the job.
Second - A secure web SSL tunnel is created for transporting the data to the primary backup server and the data is sent across this link.
Third - The data is stored on the backup server in encrypted form only to be read by you.
Fourth - The data is sent to a secondary backup server located thousands of miles away over the same type of secure SSL transport that is used in the second phase, and sits in the same format as it does on the primary backup.
